The holiday season’s is my favorite time of year. Not for the gifts( however I do enjoy receiving a few), but for the moments that are becoming great memories. My family is very special to me, they have not only shaped me as the person that I am today but continuously help to shape me everyday. Like everyone else, I have had my ups and downs in life and the only people that are ALWAYS there are my parents and brother. I do not know where I would be if it weren’t for the three of them. When receiving advice my brother does not always agree with my parents and vice versa so it can get overwhelming, but no matter what way I chose to go I know that they will always support me. During the holiday season I get to show and tell my family just how much they mean to me. My family, 90% of the time, gets together once or twice a week. Although it gets crazy busy around the holidays we still make time for just the 5 of us (family+brothers girlfriend, Shannon). We live far from our extended family and we don’t get back for the holidays very often because usually the weather prevents us from getting there or getting back. So I just wanted to remind all of you to take a moment and think about a special time that you have had with your family, Happy Holidays! Remember to take a moment and call the ones you love and tell them, “I Love You.”
Thank you UCMC
6 NovSo for the past 2 days I have spent my time at the hospital. When my mom and I walked in I told her that I felt like I was walking on to the set of Grey’s Anatomy. That is when she chimed in the little info she knew from the doctor back home. We are in fact in the hospital that was the home of the t.v series ER. They have a gift shop here where you can purchase memorabilia from the show. It is a little freaky. But back to what I am writing about. I am the first to attempt that death absolutely terrifies me in every way, shape and form. I feel like I have see people at all stages of life. Spending two days at a hospital really makes you appreciate your health in every way, even if your health is not the greatest it could ALWAYS be worse. I personally have not spent a lot of time with the doctors, however, I have seen a good amount of interaction between doctors and their patients from sitting in the waiting room. They are so personable here, they will sit next to you and ask just questions about everyday life and how they have felt physically. Passing doctors will stop and talk and it just seems like they start to have a relationship with these patients. I have been to many doctors appointments in the past few years with my mom and for myself, it unfortunately is just not seem where we have gone. And maybe it is because we are at a specialist so it is different but if all doctors could be as patient and comforting as the doctors I have seen in these past couple days I think it would make a world of difference. It can get so frustrating going to the doctors and them not knowing what is going on, or even the feeling of being rushed because they have crammed so many patient in such a small time frame. I guess the point of this blog is a shoot out to the University of Chicago Medical Center (doctors, other staff is a whole different story) saying thank you for helping and having patience.
Bucket List
5 Nov
So I was looking for something in my friends purse the other day (with her permission) and I came across a notebook. As I was looking through the notebook I noticed that it was a list of some sort. I started talking to her about it, asking her what it was, and when she started it. It was clearly some kind of bucket list. She is a single mother with 3 kids and she has a bucket list of at least 63 items with the list growing everyday. She started it roughly 6 months ago and has about 10 things crossed off already. I thought it was such a great idea and I have thought about it in the past. In a former relationship my boyfriend, at the time, and I had made a small list of 10 things that we wanted to achieve in the next ten years. After looking at my friends bucket list I looked for my previous list. It had been 3 years and 3 break-ups since I had written that list. I had only achieved one thing on the list, “to start donating to a charity on a regular basis.” A little side note, before I looked on the list I was excited because I thought I had put down to go to Greece, however, I was disappointed when I had noticed that I actually put down go to Italy. I am a list maker that is for sure, so I was just disappointed that I did not get to cross something off. But one day I will sure be able to cross off- go to Italy… This world gets crazier everyday. I know I am asking a lot but take 20 minutes this weekend and start your bucket list! All dreams are allowed on this list, everything is achievable. Add to this list whenever you want to add and cross things off as fast you can. Good luck and just remember to have fun……..
One Million Dollars…..
22 Oct
What would you do if tomorrow you found out that overnight you became a millionaire? Yahoo posted an article this week talking about, “How to become a millionaire.” This article was based on how young millionaires became millionaires before the age of 25 and how they did it. They have the extrememly famous millionaire Mark Zuckerberg you is the creator of facebook to the founder and CEO of Dell (you earned his first million before 25, but is now 45 and his net worth is $13.5 billion). So I looked up more articles about young millionaires.I know that it doesn’t happen just overnight but I am sure it happens faster than these young adults think it is going to happen. The majority of them have created some type of website that has earned them millions of dollar. The youngest millionaire sthat I found on several different lists were Catherine and David Cook (sister, 17 and brother, 19). They created a website that is called My Year Book. Having an annual turnover income of 10 million dollars. So back to my original question what would you do if you became a millionaire and knowing that it would last at least for the next five years making an annual income of at least $2 million? I would first definetly pay off my parents house. Then immediately start to travel the first year as much as I could within reason. I would next find the perfect place to live settle down there with my family close by and start living as normal of a life as possible. I would get my degree and other certifications. I would continue to donate to the charities that I already donate too, but of course more and I would hopefully get to donate more of my time.
Tattoos…
8 OctTattoos…. Where do I start??? Besides the fact that I have been thinking about this topic a lot, what made me decide that I was going to write my blog about it was the fact that Kelly Osbourne recently announced that she is going to remove the majority of her 15 tattoos. She said that she got a good amount of them just because she was going through her rebellious stage and she knew it would upset her parents (who ironically she is extremely close with these days). She mentioned that she has a tattoo of a keyboard, and she doesn’t even know how to play the piano. She is planning on going through the process of several laser treatments to have the ones removed that have no significant value to her.
This brings me to the second part. I currently am thinking about getting my third tattoo. Although I already have 2 tattoos it seems different for me for a couple of reasons. My dad does not know about one of my tattoos because my mother feels as though it would just break his heart to know that his little girl has put such graffiti on her body. Secondly, the guy that I have been dating is the first guy that I have ever dated who does not have a tattoo and has no interest in getting a tattoo. I somewhat feel uncomfortable having the one on my side because of the size and the fact that he does have any. He has told me that it does not bother him that I have them but is a third going to be pushing it??? It is not that how he feels is going to be my deciding factor it is however, something to consider. Both of my tattoos are about family and my third one would be one that my brother and I would both have and one that my mother would eventually get if she can convince my dad. I am sorry if this i like a venting section I did not mean for it to be like that. I just do not understand why tattoos have such a bad reputation. They are just like everything else, if done in moderation I think they should be totally acceptable. Why do people have to get their panties in a bunch because people have them and display them. I take pride in my heritage and family, why is that so bad??? Especifially if now they do not have to be permanent……
Who is really benefiting?
30 SepSo today when I woke up the Today show was on as usual. I usually catch some part of the today show every weekday. Today happened to be a tradition that the show has carried on for a couple of years now. Every year they choose finalist that then are narrowed down by the audience. The final couple then gets married during an airing of the Today show. The only catch is that the viewing audience gets to choose a major chunk of the details of the wedding including where the couple spends their honeymoon. The wedding cake, her dress, the table arrangements, etc are all chosen for her. Is it worth having your dream wedding completely paid for to have it at 10:00am on a Thursday morning on national television. When is the reception at if the wedding is that early in the morning? How early do you have to get up to start getting ready for your day? I do not mean to sound ungrateful but some girls have dreamt of their wedding their entire life and as much as it would not bother me to have my wedding planned for me I just would not want it to be at 10 o’clock in the morning. That is way too early!
Who is responsible for wardrobe?

Earlier in the week, a clip of an upcoming episode of Sesame Street was leaked on YouTube. This clip has put Sesame Street in the headlines. Apparently, parents are outraged at the outfit that Katy Perry is wearing. Parents have made comments expressing that they feel as though it shows too much cleavage. My question is are parents just complaining to make a big deal out of nothing or is this really inappropriate? Sesame Street is in their 40th season, I do not think that they would choose an inappropriate outfit. The low cut dress that parents are furious with has flesh colored matieral that goes up to Katy Perry’s neck. I feel like children have been exposed to outfits like this in many other circumstances. For example, as a kid I grew up watching figure skating and their outfits have just as much material as does Katy Perry’s dress. My mom never felt uncomfortable with me watching the skaters. Also as a child I figure skated and danced and I wore outfits that had that flesh colored material for competition and recitals. In my opinion, her outfit is not revealing too much, however the clip has been pulled from YouTube and will not air on the premiere show celebrating Seasame Street’s 41st season. Since the clip has been leaked a spokesperson for Sesame Street has commented, “Sesame Street has a long history of working with celebrities across all genres, including athletes, actors, musicians and artists. Sesame Street has always been written on two levels, for the child and adult. We use parodies and celebrity segments to interest adults in the show because we know that a child learns best when co-viewing with a parent or care-giver.”
